Puppies Napping Before Santa Comes

I'm hard-pressed to think of anything cuter than sleeping dogs.

Pi has discovered the joys of plastic.  Thus far he’s managed to chow down on a ball-point pen, the handle of a screwdriver, and a pair of scissors.  I think he’s determined to impale himself.  Fortunately, Christmas is coming and it’s bringing many new toys to (hopefully) occupy his mouth.

In the spirit of the holidays, I figured I’d gift all my readers (all twelve of you), with some interesting items gathered from round yon internets.

First off, kudos to Mr. Bush for his insane reflexes.  It was almost like he knew it was coming.  What intrigues me about the whole shoe throwing incident (now available in the form of several flash games) is that no one is asking the important questions: what size were the shoes?  What condition were they in?  Were they loafers or laces?  Did he throw the left one first or the right?  And perhaps most importantly – what color were his socks?

A shocking lack of curiosity from the pundits who thought it was really, really important to discuss Obama’s flag lapel pin, or lack thereof.

Though there does appear to be some dispute as to where the protesting footwear was made.  Too bad, I should have gotten a pair for my dad.

On a much cuter note: ZooBorns – for all your baby animal needs!  Just when I was starting to come off my addition to Cute Overload.  There really should be a patch for adorableness.

How would you like a pet reindeer?  Or if you’re in the mood for something more domestic, raise your own fawn.  It helps if you have a Great Dane to do some of the co-parenting.

From the humorously titled category, despite this article’s eye-catching declaration, the latke itself was not solar powered.  Which is a relief because that begs the question, “What was it powered to *do*?”

Some brilliant person saved me the trouble of making a modern version of the 12 Days of Christmas by doing it a year ago.

And on a serious note: it depresses me how many people have had to give up their pets due to the bad economy.  I’ve seen an increase in pet adoption fairs around the city, and it just breaks my heart to see that there seems to be an endless number of animals looking for homes.  To anyone considering bringing a pet into your life, please don’t buy from a pet store.  If allergies aren’t a consideration, don’t buy a pet, period.  There are so many animals out there who need homes in the  best of times, and the adoption fees go to help other needy pets.

And if a pet isn’t in the cards, please think of donating to pet rescues this Christmas.  They can always use food and blankets.  I just donated leashes to the Westside German Shepherd Rescue and sent them an e-mail with an update on Pilot.  The people there were thrilled to see a picture of him looking absolutely nothing like the puppy we brought home.

Quote of the Day:

Noel: Where am I supposed to go?

Me: Just go straight.

Noel: I can’t.

Me:  Oops, sorry, go gay, then.

-somewhere in the Magical Kingdom, having the time of our lives

Link of the Day:  I thought I’d already linked this, but – a Dalek Christmas tree. Genius!
